Life at Bass Rocks

Bass Rocks is a beautiful but demanding seaside links course with views of the Atlantic Ocean on almost every hole. The par 69, 71 for women, offers a wide variety of shot making situations which are caused by the ever changing winds, chocolate drop mounds, fast rolling greens and long fescue areas. Established in 1896 the Herbert Leeds designed course has hosted the MGA Junior Championship in 1996 and several local MGA/WGAM qualifiers throughout the years. The conditions of this links course are second to none with bent/poa greens that are fast, firm and undulated where staying below the pin is a must. This course is enjoyed by all because it is just plain fun!

Bass Rocks Golf Club is a private golf club established in 1896. Our sole purpose is to maintain golf and tennis facilities that encourage athletic exercise and provide a place for social meetings. We are a private membership organization with a Sec. 501 (c)(7) federal tax exemption. Situated on 112 acres in East Gloucester, Massachusetts, the Club renders spectacular ocean views to members and their guests. Membership surveys conducted in 1987, 1992, and 1995 have resounded the same common themes about the Club and its members: We are a golf club with tennis facilities. The "specialness" of Bass Rocks is in large part attributable to the social and economic diversity of its membership. The Club should continue to invest the majority of its resources in the continued controlled improvement of the golf course. Improvements to our course and facilities should not destroy or damage the natural beauty of the Cape Ann landscape. We should not increase the golf membership any further. If greater revenues are required a dues increase is preferable to more golf players.
